Ni Bonchi Judo Club, one of Canberra’s top judo clubs, is celebrating over 45 amazing years in the sport! Founded in 1981 by John Fairhall, the club has become a key part of the judo scene in Canberra, helping grow countless judoka, including national champions, black belt instructors and good citizens.
From the start, Ni Bonchi has built a strong reputation for providing a safe judo environment while creating a friendly and supportive environment where everyone—no matter of age or skill level—can enjoy judo. Over the
years, the club has grown, creating champions and teachers who have made a lasting impact on judo both locally and nationally.
The club recently underwent an exciting transformation, moving to a new venue at Charles Conder Primary School (134 Tom Roberts Ave, Conder) where the Club has flourished, and they are looking for new tatami to create even more space for more judoka to practice.
During a recent visit, Luis Val, President of JudoACT and an 8th DAN black belt, praised the club's energy and the strong role it plays in Canberra’s judo community.
Tracy Fairhall, President of Ni Bonchi Judo Club, and the dedicated coaching team are all excited about what the future holds. They’re committed to making judo accessible to everyone and are focused on creating a fun, welcoming, and social environment for all—from beginners to seasoned athletes. “We’re really excited about where Ni Bonchi Judo Club is headed,” says Tracy Fairhall. “With the support of our awesome coaches, we’re working hard to grow the sport and make sure everyone feels at home”.

Training times:
Mondays: 6:00pm – 7:30pm (all grades, ages 6 to veterans)
